Cover figure
The surface earthquake fault found in Hanokidachi, Ichinoseki city, associated with the 2008, Jun 14, Iwate-Miyagi Nairiku Earthquake.
The fault runs in the direction of the photographer's feet from the roots of the tilted trees with the right-hand (eastern) side uplifting. A clear rupture cut the footpath of the paddy field in front of the person at the center, and the water filled in the paddy field was moved toward the left-hand side due to the associated tilting.
