Hotoke-uta (Hotoke-ga-ura)
Erosion topography of middle to upper rhyo-dacitic tuffs at the central part of western Shimokita Peninsula
These felsic volcanic activities were intensive during Miocene in the back-arc basin of the Japanese Islands, and formed famous Kuroko and Au-base metal vein-type deposits. Here, Buddhism- related names are given to the strange shapes of the eroded rock towers (National monument designated in 1939).
