トルコ共和国のカッパドキア地方は，アナトリア半島中央部に位置し，奇岩の数々で世界的に知られた観光地です．風雨により地層が浸食され，柱状に取り残された塊が多数林立する様は，圧倒的な光景です．この地層は主に凝灰岩からなり，その上位の玄武岩が帽子のように乗っていることもあります．４世紀頃から，ここに穴を掘り，人々が住むようになったといわれています．
The Cappadocia
The Cappadocia district of the Republic of Turkey is located in Anatolia peninsula central part, and it is a world-known sightseeing spot with diversity of strangely shaped rocks. Strata are eroded by wind and rain. A lots of lumps with pillar or mushroom shape consist magnificent sight. These strata mainly consist of tuff with basalt on the top just like a hat. It is said that people dug holes here and came to live from the fourth century.
